Who You Are

Managing IT is different from those other familiar disciplines. That’s what this blog is all about.

Who We Are

Originally, we were one of those programmers who wrote your software. We also authored two books on software and software technology.

In the last ten years, we’ve consulted with you:

  • Helped run multi-million dollar software selections.

  • Saved you millions by buying smart and getting the contract right.

  • Run your projects, large and small.

  • Coached IT managers on how to be more effective.

In between, we were a technology vendor, both products and services. We played our role as salesman and sales manager, and as VP Marketing (including the obligatory start-up-sold-to-public-company story). We were a principal in several consulting firms, we also authored a well-regarded book on technology sales. We’ve done our fair share of conference speaking, we’ve even chaired a few.

We know IT, vendors, consultants.  We know how they think about you, how they strategize about you, how they market to you. And we know how to get the best out of each in a way that gets superior results.

How you manage other departments isn’t working for IT. But you can get things working and lead it as well as you lead the rest of the business.
